About me
How it all began
I created my very first web site when I was 13, managing to get a free hosting and own domains from some good samaritans who were willing to support my project without anything in exchange (well, except some link exchange – the way web advertising was done back then!). That project – manga and anime series – was surprisingly successful, reaching thousands of unique visitors per day and encouraging me to keep learning and offering new features to the users, such as a free web-based (using innovative AJAX techniques…!) role-playing game that ultimately led me to open new projects after some years, such as a fantasy football manager web-based game that synchronised with real world data after every matchday.
These were the roots of my passion for technology and data, which I kept feeding until nowadays.
My story
Originally graduated in computer science from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), and with a Master’s degree in business intelligence from UOC, I started to work as software engineer (mainly Java EE) for few consultancy companies, until an interesting opportunity to work for an european digital marketing group as database engineer came to my door, moving to lead the big data unit after some years when Hadoop was released. This focus on data and the curiosity to discover what challenges face other industries, made me move to Synergic Parnters (Telefónica) to lead their data architects team until 2017.
Since then, I’m happily working for Amazon Web Services, specialized in Data & Analytics, where I provide expert advise around data strategy and analytics to our most strategic customers.
